The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
