The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
