Nay, by the Moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
