The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
