Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
