It is God who sends down water from the sky for you to drink and produces plants as pasture for your cattle. 10 and thereby He brings forth for you crops, and olives, and palms, and vines, and all manner of fruit. Surely in that is a sign for a people who reflect. 11 And He hath constrained the night and the day and the sun and the moon to be of service unto you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. Lo! herein indeed are portents for people who have sense. 12 And other things of different shades has He produced on the earth for you. In this are signs for those who reflect. 13 And He it is who has made the sea subservient [to His laws,] so that you might eat fresh meat from it, and take from it gems which you may wear. And on that [very sea] one sees ships ploughing through the waves, so that you might [be able to] go forth in quest of some of His bounty, and thus have cause to be grateful [to Him]. 14 He has set up on the earth firm mountains, lest it shake under you, and rivers and tracks, so that you may find your way, 15 and He has set other landmarks in the earth. And by the stars too do people find their way. 16 Is then the One Who creates like the one who does not create? Will you not, then, take heed? 17 And if ye would count the favours of Allah ye could not compute them; verily Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 18 God knows all that you conceal and all that you reveal. 19 Those whom they invoke besides Allah create nothing and are themselves created. 20 They are, [in fact], dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected. 21
