Now advise me in this, Counsellors. I never decide any affair till I have conferred with you." 32 They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command." 33 She said: 'When kings enter a village, they ruin it and humiliate its nobles. And this they will do. 34 But I shall send them a gift and see what the messengers bring back' 35 When her Messengers came to Soloman, he said, "Have you brought me wealth? What God has given to me is far better than what He has given to you, but you are happy with your gifts. 36 Return thou to them; we shall assuredly come against them with hosts they have not power to resist, and we shall expel them from there, abased and utterly humbled.' 37 He said, 'O Council, which one of you will bring me her throne, before they come to me in surrender?' 38 A monstrous jinn said, "I can bring it before you even stand up. I am powerful and trustworthy". 39 But one of them who had some knowledge of the Book said, "I will bring it to you in the twinkling of an eye." When Solomon saw it placed before him, he exclaimed, "This is by the grace of my Lord, to test whether I am grateful or ungrateful. Whosoever is grateful, it is for the good of his own self; and whosoever is ungrateful, then surely my Lord is self-sufficient and generous." 40 (Turning to his nobles) he said: "Change the appearance of her throne. Let us see if she is rightly guided, or is not guided at all." 41 When she came she was asked, "Is your throne like this?" She replied, "It seems that this is it. We had received the knowledge before this and were submissive (to Solomon's power)". 42 She was (in fact) turned away by what she worshipped other than God, for she came of an unbelieving people. 43 It was said unto her: enter the palace. Then when she saw it, she deemed it a pool and bared her shanks. He said: verily it is a palace evenly floored with glass. She said: my Lord! verily I wronged my soul, and now submit myself together with Sulaiman unto Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. 44
