Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 God has spread out the earth 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
