The dwellers in El-Hijr cried lies to the Envoys. 80 And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. 81 Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 And all that they had done (for security) availed them nothing. 84 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers. 88 And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner, 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 Those who broke the Word of Allah into several parts. (Those who broke the Torah / Bible or changed its text – or those who called the Qur’an a fabrication / poetry.) 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 about what they did. 93 Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know. 96 Indeed, We know your chest is straitened by that they say. 97 Therefore celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who make obeisance. 98 And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee. 99
