The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" 3 He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Not one of the communities that We destroyed in bygone times would ever believe [their prophets]: will these, then, [be more willing to] believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason? 10
