A multitude of those of old 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Send it down ye from the raincloud, or are We the Sender down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
