۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 What then, shall we not die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
