The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 No one can avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
