By no means! By the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 As a warning unto men, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until death approached us". 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
