A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers). 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 And the weighing on that Day is certain, then whosesoever balances will be heavy, those! they shall fare well. 8 And those whose scales are light are the people who put themselves to ruin – the recompense of the injustice they used to do to Our signs. 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
