Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
