The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
