Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 who will be in Paradise 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 "Till death overcame us." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
