The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
