Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
