The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
