Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
