The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 it will be a hard day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
