The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
