The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
