The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ They ask you about the spoils (of war). Say: 'The spoils belong to Allah and the Messenger. Therefore, have fear of Allah and set things right between you. Obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers' 1 The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely - 2 those who are constant in prayer and spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance: 3 These are the true Muslims; for them are ranks before their Lord, and forgiveness and an honourable sustenance. 4 The way your Lord caused you, O dear Prophet to come forth from your home with the truth; and indeed a group of Muslims were unhappy about it. 5 Disputing with thee concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death and they (actually) saw it. 6 Behold! Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours: Ye wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the Truth according to His words and to cut off the roots of the Unbelievers;- 7 That He might justify Truth and prove Falsehood false, distasteful though it be to those in guilt. 8 [Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another." 9 God has sent this glad news to comfort your hearts. Victory is in the hands of God alone. God is Majestic and All-wise. 10
