The companions of the thicket denied the messengers 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said: 'My Lord knows what you are doing' 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 191
