The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
