And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer 75 And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, 76 And his offspring! them We made the survivors. 77 And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times: 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all the worlds' 79 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 80 He was one of Our believing servants. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham 83 When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart; 84 and said to his father and his people: “Whom do you worship? 85 Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire? 86 What think you then of the Lord of all Being?' 87 Then he looked at the stars, looking up once, 88 Then said: Lo! I feel sick! 89 And they turned their backs on him and went away. (The pagans thought he would transmit the disease). 90 Then he went quietly to the (temple of the deities) and said: “What is the matter with you, why do you not eat? 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand. 93 Then came the others to him hastening. 94 He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved? 95 even though God created both you and that which you have made?" 96 They said, "Let us build a fire and throw him into the flames". 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 He said, "I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 We called to him, "O Abraham, 104 you have indeed fulfilled your dream. Thus do We reward the good-doers.” 105 That was indeed a trying test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 And We perpetuated (praise) to him among the later generations. 108 "Peace upon Abraham." 109 Thus, do We reward the righteous ones. 110 He was one of Our believing servants. 111 And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Is-haq; and of their offspring are some well-doers and some who wrong themselves manifestly. 113
