The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
