The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
