Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
