The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
