۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 And yet, as soon as He has granted them sound [offspring,] they begin to ascribe to other powers beside Him a share in bringing about what He has granted them! Sublimely exalted, however, is God - above anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 190 Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and are themselves created? 191 And they have no power to give them help, nor can they help themselves. 192 And if you invite them to guidance, they will not follow you; it is the same to you whether you invite them or you are silent. 193 Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allah are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful. 194 Have they feet wherewith they walk? Or have they hands wherewith they hold? Or have they eyes wherewith they see? Or have they ears wherewith they hear? Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Call your (so-called) partners (of Allah) and then plot against me, and give me no respite! 195 “Indeed my Protector is Allah Who has sent down the Book; and He befriends the righteous.” 196 “And those whom you worship besides Him cannot help you nor do they help themselves.” 197 And if you call them to guidance they do not listen; and you (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) observe them looking towards you, whereas they do not perceive anything. 198 Cultivate tolerance, enjoin justice, and avoid the fools. 199 And if there prompt thee a prompting from the Satan, seek refuge with Allah; verily He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Lo! those who ward off (evil), when a glamour from the devil troubleth them, they do but remember (Allah's Guidance) and behold them seers! 201 while their brethren ceaselessly try to drag them into error. 202 And when you, [O Muhammad], do not bring them a sign, they say, "Why have you not contrived it?" Say, "I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This [Qur'an] is enlightenment from your Lord and guidance and mercy for a people who believe." 203 When the Qur'an is recited listen to it in silence. You may perhaps be blessed. 204 Remember your Lord deep in your very soul, in all humility and awe, without raising your voice, morning and evening, do not be one of the heedless, 205 Surely those who are with thy Lord wax not too proud to serve Him; they chant His praise, and to Him they bow. ۩ 206
