Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
