The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
