The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And the Book written 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the swollen sea 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
