The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 then came down close 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
