The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 Created man, 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
