Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
