He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
