The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
Almighty God's Truth.
