Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
