The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
