The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 He would drive you forth from your land; so what is it that ye enjoin? 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 "You cast it first," answered Moses. When they cast their spell, they bewitched the eyes of the people and petrified them by conjuring up a great charm. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
