And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
