To whosoever blinds himself from the Remembrance of the Merciful, We shall assign him a satan so he is his companion, 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)! 38 And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment. 39 Can you (O Muhammad SAW) make the deaf to hear, or can you guide the blind or him who is in manifest error? 40 Whether We take thee away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 or show them to you suffering the torment with which We had threatened them. We are certainly dominant over them all. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 Ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We have ever made gods, other than the Merciful, to be worshipped. 45
