'Aad denied the messengers 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
