Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
