The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
